Les Bryson (Houston, TX)
Les is Director of Implementation in the Houston office and leads alliantgroup's Chemical Industry Specialization Program. Les has overseen the implementation of more than 750 studies and is responsible for maintaining high-quality processes and deliverables in the implementation group and interfacing with alliantgroup's Tax Controversy Services team.
Les is a published chemist whose research and technical background allow him to identify and capitalize on tax incentives for a variety of chemical-specific industries. His experience includes setting up operations of an industrial laboratory, expertise in multiple disciplines of spectroscopy, and academic research in the fields of organic and organo-metallic synthesis, as well as industrial research in transition metal catalyst recovery. He received his B.S. in chemistry from Rice University and is a member of the American Chemical Society.
Kevin Corley (Houston, TX)
Kevin is the Senior Managing Director of the Gulf Coast Region and a founding member of alliantgroup. He has more than 14 years of experience working with small and mid-sized companies, providing tax, accounting, and mergers & acquisition consulting services.
For the last six years, Kevin has been providing R&D tax services to various clients, and his expertise includes serving both middle market and privately held companies. Prior to joining alliantgroup, Kevin was a partner at a regional CPA firm and supervised the firm's R&D tax services practice. Working closely with owners and investors on tax consulting and financial analysis, Kevin was intimately involved with tax strategies and consulting on specialized engagements. He managed a team of 35 individuals and was instrumental in developing the firm's marketing strategy. Kevin also worked with several companies as an outsourced CFO.
Kevin is a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the AICPA, and a Certified Financial Planner.
Jeremy M. Fingeret (Houston, TX)
Jeremy is Managing Director of Tax Controversy Services for alliantgroup. He is an experienced litigation attorney, having handled cases in multiple state and federal courts. Jeremy is licensed to practice law in the state of Texas, the United States Tax Court, the Court of Federal Claims, The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and numerous federal district courts. Jeremy is also an experienced corporate transactional attorney. Prior to joining alliantgroup, Jeremy practiced law at a prominent litigation law firm in Houston.
Shane T. Frank (Houston, TX)
Shane is a Senior Managing Director and President / Chief Operating Officer of alliantgroup. Prior to founding alliantgroup, Shane was a partner of a prominent corporate law firm, where he served as lead counsel for the firm's corporate practice. His experience has included representation of numerous Fortune 500 companies. Shane serves as head of alliantgroup's National Operations and Tax Controversy practice.
Shane is a licensed to practice law before the United States Tax Court, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, several federal jurisdictions, and all Texas state courts.
Arthur Goessel (Miami, FL)
Art is Chairman of Alliance Relations at alliantgroup and brings over twenty years of experience working with various national and international accounting firms. Formerly, Art was Executive Director of one of the largest international accounting firm associations, and was directly responsible for driving the development of new business, both nationally and internationally for member firms. In addition, Art worked directly with many Fortune 500 companies, as well as coordinated activities with agencies such as the World Bank, USAID and many others.
Art is a CAE (Certified Association Executive) and is active in many national business organizations including the National Association of Corporate Directors. He earned his degree in Business from Oklahoma State University.
Sonny Grover (New York, NY)
Sonny is a Sr. Managing Director and Executive Vice President based out of alliantgroup's New York City office. He is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 20 years of experience providing tax, mergers & acquisitions, structuring, and operational consulting to corporations, partnerships, and individual business owners throughout the world.
Previously, Sonny was a Tax Partner at Deloitte & Touche, LLP, where he managed a national consulting practice and a team of 30 professionals in 12 cities. Prior to Deloitte, Sonny was with Arthur Andersen. Sonny is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with his BBA & MPA (in tax).
Steffanie M. Gunn (Chicago, IL / Manhattan, NY)
Steffanie is the National Director of CPA Relations, spending the bulk of her time in New York, and Chicago. She has extensive experience in business development, public and media relations, and marketing. Prior to joining alliantgroup, she spearheaded the business development efforts for a prominent boutique investment advisory firm in Orange County. Steffanie's professional experience also includes public affairs management for the Doheny Eye Institute (University of Southern California) and a media relations position with the Motorcycle Industry Council.
Steffanie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology from California State University, Long Beach with a minor in Public Speaking.
Lynn C. Hedlund (Orange County, CA)
Lynn is alliantgroup's National Director of Business Development & Corporate Strategy. She is instrumental in determining how CPA firms can add value to their clients and how alliantgroup can assist them in this goal. In her first three years with alliantgroup, Lynn helped identify more than $30 million in credits & incentives for more than 90 businesses and their owners. Lynn also helps implement business development methodologies and processes, trains and manages alliantgroup Business Development Directors, and is responsible for helping develop marketing tools and campaigns for the company.
Prior to joining alliantgroup, Lynn spent 23 years in the staffing industry. She co-founded Ultimate Staffing Services, which was featured in Inc. Magazine as the #1 fastest growing privately held company in the U.S. Lynn has served in Rotary and on the Board of Directors for both the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce and The North Orange County YMCA.
Dhaval R. Jadav (Houston, TX)
Dhaval is a Senior Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of alliantgroup and brings over 11 years of R&D and M&A experience to the firm. Prior to founding alliantgroup, Dhaval was a member of a Mergers & Acquisitions / Private Equity / Strategic Buyer Services Group in San Francisco, California where he advised numerous high-technology companies. In addition, Dhaval worked with Deloitte & Touche's national R&D group, where he conducted R&D studies for businesses of all shapes and sizes. Prior to his experience at Deloitte & Touche, Dhaval worked in the Houston District Counsel office of the Internal Revenue Service.
Dhaval is a licensed attorney in Texas and received his LL.M. degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
David Ji (Houston, TX)
David is a Managing Director at the Houston national office with over six years of both academic and industrial experience in the fields of finance and bio-engineering.
Prior to joining the alliantgroup, David worked on cutting-edge research in the arenas of developmental biology and gene therapy as a Research and Bioanalytical Scientist at Introgen Therapeutics and Rice University's Department of Biochemistry. In addition, David served as a Senior Analyst for the corporate development / strategy group of a regional firm. David's research and technical background, together with his business analyst training, gives him a unique combination of skills that allows him to identify and capitalize on tax incentives for a wide variety of business enterprises.
David received his B.S. in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin, his M.S. in Biochemistry from Rice University, and his M.B.A. in Finance / Accounting from the University of Houston.
David C. Mayer (New York, NY)
David is the Regional Managing Director of the East Region for alliantgroup. He has more than 17 years of experience providing tax, mergers and acquisitions, and operational consulting services to corporations, partnerships and individuals throughout the US. In addition, he has more than five years of federal and state R&D tax credit experience. Prior to joining alliantgroup, David was a senior tax manager at Deloitte & Touche in New York. As a member of Deloitte's national tax consulting group, he was responsible for providing significant clients throughout the country with various tax consulting services. David has also worked with Price Waterhouse.
David is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in New York. He is a former Chairman of the M&A Tax Committee for the NYS Society of CPAs, Manhattan chapter. He is also a member of the AICPA. David holds a Master in Taxation degree from Bentley College, graduating with high distinction, and a B.S. in accounting from Fairfield University.
Rick Meyer (Chicago, IL)
Rick is a Director in the Chicago office of alliantgroup. Prior to joining alliantgroup, he was in public accounting for more than 28 years, specializing in taxes and federal tax credits. He began his career in the tax department of a “Big 8” CPA firm and later brought his specialization in value-added tax saving incentives to top CPA firms in the Chicago area, serving the middle markets and privately held companies. Rick is a frequent and popular speaker with the Illinois CPA Society, for whom he has taught classes on the R&D Tax Credit as well as conducted webinars and written articles on this topic. He has also taught classes for Corporate Financial Leadership (CCFL), conducted CPE workshops for CPA firms throughout Illinois and Iowa, and spoken to various trade and professional associations. Rick has been interviewed on local radio and TV.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society, where he actively serves on both the Tax Executive Committee and Business Tax Committee. Rick graduated with an accounting and MBA degree from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana and received a Masters of Taxation degree from DePaul University in Chicago.
Douglas McCubbin (Houston, TX)
Douglas is the Managing Director for the Sales and Use Tax Services at alliantgroup's Houston national office. Douglas brings over 15 years of diversified public accounting experience to the marketplace and over 27 years of experience in the area of sales and use tax consulting. Prior to joining the alliantgroup, Douglas was a partner at a big four firm. As a tax partner he was responsible for providing sales tax services to national and local clients in the area of sales tax refund reviews, M&A transaction reviews, sales tax audit support, tax planning, tax risk reviews, developing sales and use tax manuals, and providing sales tax training. Douglas is a Certified Public Accountant who earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Dubuque.
Brad Mols (Pittsburgh, PA)
Based out of alliantgroup's Pennsylvania office, Brad is the Regional Managing Director responsible for Pennsylvania. Brad is a Certified Public Accountant with over 11 years of experience in accounting, tax, and business consulting with PricewaterhouseCoopers and various consulting businesses. During his tenure at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Brad was responsible for serving and advising many Fortune 500 clients.
Michael Siegel (Toledo, OH)
Michael is a Managing Director based in alliantgroup's Toledo, Ohio office, serving CPAs and businesses in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and New Jersey. Since joining alliantgroup, Michael has assisted hundreds of small and middle-market businesses in taking advantage of the R&D Tax Credit. He is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 10 years of experience in accounting, tax, and business consulting. Prior to joining alliantgroup, Michael provided consulting services to CPA firms in the areas of tax and audit engagement efficiency and was a pioneer in the field of paperless workflow. Michael received his B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Dean A. Zerbe (Washington, D.C.)
Dean is alliantgroup's National Managing Director based in alliantgroup's Washington D.C. office. Prior to joining alliantgroup, Dean was Senior Counsel and Tax Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance. He worked closely with then-Chairman and current Ranking Member of the Finance Committee, Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA), on tax legislation. During his tenure on the Finance Committee, Dean was intimately involved with nearly every major piece of tax legislation that was signed into law – including the 2001 and 2003 tax reconciliation bills, the JOBS bill in 2004 (corporate tax reform), and the Pension Protection Act.
Dean is a frequent speaker and author on the outlook for short-term and long-term changes in tax policy, as well as ways accounting firms can help their clients lower their tax bill. He holds an LL.M. in Taxation from NYU and a J.D. from George Mason University.
