New Legislation Rewards AG Businesses!

We had fantastic turnout for our webinar “New Legislation Rewards AG Businesses! Tax Incentives for Keeping Jobs in the U.S.” hosted by former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns!
At alliantgroup, we strive to educate businesses on tax credits available for their benefit. Since the webinar, we helped a feed business in Ohio identify over $200,000 in federal credits for 2016 alone. In case you missed our webinar, here are three key takeaways from the presentation:

Secretary Johanns opened the webinar to discuss why he joined alliantgroup and how the R&D Tax Credit is often overlooked by businesses in the agriculture industry even though these businesses are already doing daily work that qualifies them for the tax credit.

alliantgroup’s Agricultural Practice Leader Jeremy Troutman explained that one of the great things about the R&D Tax Credit is that it applies to all types of companies in the ag industry. There is opportunity everywhere from the farmers in the field to the individuals processing the food products for consumption!

alliantgroup’s Executive Vice President Sonny Grover discussed many qualifying activities for agricultural cooperatives, farm and livestock enterprises and food processors. If a business is improving its products or processes, then the work is eligible for the credit. The time that businesses spend developing and implementing new technology is also qualifying work for the R&D Tax Credit.
