Representing nearly 1,000 commercial laboratories nationwide, the NADL is a national, federated association. It aims to advance the dental technology industry and its members through advocacy, education, standards and services. The NADL accomplishes its mission through different programs, services and networking opportunities that meet the changing needs of its members.
As the unified voice of the industry, members of the NADL tend to be great candidates for several federal and state tax incentives. Prior to becoming a member, alliantgroup was proud to work with the association and its members to identify opportunities that might not have been immediately obvious. Among the most valuable of the opportunities alliantgroup’s services found was the federal Research and Development (R&D) Tax Credit. This dollar-for-dollar tax credit generates an estimated $10 billion annually for U.S. businesses.
So far, alliantgroup has helped NADL members gather close to $13 million in credits.
As designed, the R&D Tax Credit serves to reward companies for technical enhancements to their products or processes. As an industry that develops and refines new technologies consistently, dental laboratories are often great candidates for the credit. The design of restorative and prosthetic materials and equipment – often integrating new technologies such as CAD/CAM capabilities – is just one example of the technical work and experimentation this industry does that the R&D Tax Credit was created to foster.
