alliantgroup to Host Replay of Free CPE Webinar on Avrahami Ruling

HOUSTON, Oct. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — alliantgroup will be replaying its webinar on the landmark decision Avrahami v. Commissioner entitled “The World after Avrahami: The Future of Captives.” Due to recent inclement weather events, many CPAs and financial advisors were unable to attend the original webinar in August.

In August, after a two-year wait, the U.S. Tax Court released its Opinion in Avrahami v. Commissioner. In the decision, the court found that the captive was not functioning as a legitimate insurance company. While the court’s ruling was very specific to the Avrahami case, the finding still has major ramifications for 831(b) microcaptives.

This webinar will count for one hour of CPE credit. During this presentation, former IRS Acting Commissioner Steven Miller and alliantgroup Managing Director of Tax Controversy John Dies will discuss how the court’s findings will influence the captive industry as a whole. Miller and Dies will also discuss the necessary precautions that business owners, CPAs and financial advisors will need to take moving forward to ensure compliance with the ruling.

“We received such great feedback on this webinar that we decided to rebroadcast it for anyone who may have missed out the first time,” said alliantgroup CEO Dhaval Jadav. “When it comes to captives, Steven and John are unrivaled experts, and people are eager to hear their insights on this notable Tax Court decision. This webinar presents a fantastic opportunity for anyone that has a captive or a client with a captive to learn exactly how the Avrahami v. Commissioner ruling affects them.”
