alliantgroup Hosts Field Trip for Highland Heights Elementary Students to Houston Museum of Natural Science

HOUSTON, Oct. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — As part of its youth and community investment initiative, last week alliantgroup volunteers took more than 80 underserved students from Highland Heights Elementary on a field trip to the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

During the field trip, students were guided by alliantgroup volunteers to explore areas such as the museum’s renewable energy lab and the Morian Hall of Paleontology. In addition to the tour, the students also participated in hands-on lab experiments focused on renewable energy and were treated to a viewing of Dream Big, a 3D movie about engineering. The field trip is just the latest excursion in a growing list of community outreach initiatives sponsored by the Blue Heart Fund, alliantgroup’s nonprofit charity, designed to expose students to STEM education at an early age.

“STEM occupations offer some of the highest paying and most fulfilling career opportunities,” said alliantgroup CEO Dhaval Jadav. “Unfortunately, not enough of our young people are pursuing STEM-careers. If this trend continues, it will have major consequences for our country down the line, affecting everything from our nation’s ability to remain competitive to the quality of life of future generations.”

There have been a number of recent reports highlighting the declining interest in STEM among young people. In an effort to combat this, alliantgroup’s Blue Heart Fund has put promoting STEM education at the forefront of all of its philanthropic efforts. From handing out STEM-based scholarships to its direct outreach to K-12 schools, the firm remains committed to engaging young people in STEM and illustrating the range of career opportunities that exist within STEM fields.
