The company reviewed all design criteria based on client needs and evaluated alternatives like piping, duct routing, insulation materials and equipment sizes. They analyzed each by conducting engineering studies to compare the systems’ functions and efficiency; ultimately including other disciplines such as architectural, structural and civil engineering. They utilized floor plans, elevations and other details identifying major building materials, systems, code analyses and the implementation of such within the design. The company utilized software programs such as AutoCAD to inspect potential design issues and Revit for design coordination.

This company installed HVAC and plumbing systems in a mechanical room at a university data center. They utilized forklifts to incorporate the three, 20×10 sq ft steel storage tanks into the limited space. Another project involved the installation of new boilers, chiller plants and cooling towers into seven different buildings. The equipment was tied into existing steam lines that ran throughout the campus. In order to integrate with the existing system, they worked with engineers to design and develop alternatives, ultimately removing the existing piping to install additional T-joints and to allow for the new connections.

This project sought to implement new controls in a chiller at a U.S. Air Force Base. To overcome uncertainties about integrating the new system into the existing infrastructure, they utilized electrical engineering calculations to trace and verify wiring terminal locations, signal types and compatibility prior to demolition and connection to new devices. Because no splicing was allowed, they then developed a design to remove the existing control wire and provide new control and signal wire from field devices to labeled terminal blocks.
