The R&D Tax Credit can provide an immediate source of cash as well as a significant reduction to current and future years’ federal and state tax liabilities.

Oilfield and Oil Rig Construction Company

This company undertook projects to design, develop and fabricate various drilling rig components such as oilfield components, building modules, helidecks and heavy structural support steel. During this process, the company performed the design, fit up, weld out, load testing and nondestructive testing required to safely construct new drilling platform components. Additionally, they fabricated critical wellhead equipment including connectors, fittings, casing, tubing hanger, valves and chokes, and rust inhibited ring grooves for offshore drilling sites. The company also analyzed design drawings to assess the optimal fabrication and welding methods used during each project.

Engineer & Manufacturer of Oil & Gas Equipment

This company undertook a project to design a new unitized pump package, a process that involved incorporating four mud pumps with an engine for development. To overcome specific project challenges, the company engaged with the client to determine project specifications and the drilling environment. Next, the company created various design drawings for the unitized pump packages and sought client input for adjustments through an iterative design process. Ultimately, the company was able to develop a unitized pump package with four mud pumps and an engine that incorporated a new torque converter package.

Oilfield Equipment Manufacturer

This company developed a device utilized with drilling slips to prevent tubing from falling into a drilling hole when a joint of pipe is being unscrewed. During the project, the company had to overcome design challenges that would allow the 30-inch diameter device to accommodate one thousand tons of stress. Through an iterative design process, the company evaluated alternative die designs as well as several alternative sizes and quantities to determine the variation that best gripped the piping. The company evaluated the materials used to create the device, electing to use alloy steels to the minimal functional thickness.
