HOUSTON, March 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — alliantgroup is proud to announce sponsorship of a $10,000 grant to Bellaire High School for a post-Hurricane Harvey water quality study. Bellaire High School teachers Jane Baker, Stephanie Clayton and Hillary Schulze, and student teacher Sara Ross, are recipients of the grant and will lead the study as part of the school’s biology and aquatic science programs.

HOUSTON, March 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — alliantgroup and the Houston Independent School District (HISD) are excited to announce six finalists for the 2018 Elementary Science Teacher Award. alliantgroup created the program to reward local teachers who help increase student engagement through innovative lesson plans that emphasize the importance and intrigue of science. The award is one of many educational initiatives alliantgroup supports as part of its continuing commitment to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education.
The following finalists, selected by HISD and each from a different district region, will receive a cash award of $1,250, as well as an additional $500 for their classroom. One grand-prize winner will be recognized at an April 23 awards luncheon at alliantgroup’s headquarters, and receive an additional personal cash prize of $3,500, plus $500 to put toward their classroom.

Members of the alliantgroup Information Technology team prepared 50 company retired laptops, docking stations and monitors for donation. HOUSTON, Jan. 29, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — alliantgroup volunteers took more than 80 students from Shearn Elementary School on a STEM-themed field trip last week to Space Center Houston as part of the company’s youth and community investment initiative.
During the field trip, alliantgroup volunteers guided students through areas of the Space Center such as the center’s Astronaut Gallery featuring items from the Gemini, Apollo and Shuttle eras, along with a tram tour to Rocket Park, where one of only three of the remaining actual Saturn V rockets is on display.
In addition to the tour, the students also participated in hands-on learning activities involving virtual reality and the Space Center’s robotics lab. HOUSTON, Jan. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — alliantgroup will be hosting a “Generating STEM” luncheon for recipients of its Greater Houston Area STEM Scholarship Award, where the company will give out $30,000 in scholarships to local high school seniors who have chosen to pursue a degree in a STEM field.

During the field trip, students were guided by alliantgroup volunteers to explore the museum’s Cockrell Butterfly Center, Brown Hall of Entomology and the Morian Hall of Paleontology. The students were also treated to lunch and were sent home with backpacks filled with books on dinosaurs, butterflies and bugs, as well as dinosaur fossil excavation science kits. The scholarships were presented to the students on November 7 during alliantgroup’s Leadership, Technology & Policy Summit at the firm’s headquarters in Houston. Each student received $10,000 to help fund their respective STEM education at the college of their choice.
