Host: Mike Adams
March 28, 2018
It’s a Farmer Forum Wednesday…with a twist! Host Chip Flory calls Ken McCauley from Kansas, and Kevin Paap from Minnesota to the plate as Former Sen. Mike Johanns joins the program to talk with the farmers. In their first segment Chip asks what the Senator has been working on, and gets his thoughts on several trade issues. The farmers also chime in with questions about getting other farmers more involved in legislative issues. After the break Senator Johanns, Chip, and the guys dive into the farm bill, the snap program, and biofuels issues. Johanns believes that snap is in large part what is holding the farm bill up in D.C. Then to end the show Chip gets to ask Ken and Kevin about their operations and what’s going on. Kevin says they are a couple weeks from planting and Ken gives some insight into the issue of seed spills.
Mike Johanns was the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture from 2005-2007 as well as the Governor of Nebraska from 1999-2005 and the state’s U.S. Senator from 2009-2015. As alliantgroup’s Chairman of Agriculture, Johanns brings more than 30 years of experience at virtually every level of government and a strong background in both agriculture and economic development. As the Secretary of Agriculture, he managed 18 different agencies, opened or expanded access to 40 international markets and was responsible for multiple agricultural breakthroughs as a negotiator for the Doha Development Round.
